"In August 2023 I was very unwell and was forced to take leave from my job as an English teacher. I was unable to breathe properly and was becoming increasingly weak to the point I was in a wheelchair. I had deteriorated from being a fit and active person to being tested for several terminal conditions. I had never been so ill in my life. After extensive tests, it was decided that I needed to see a Respiratory Physiotherapist to help me deal with dysfunctional breathing. The cause of my illness remained unsolved but it was hoped that seeing a Respiratory Physiotherapist would help me. It proved impossible to find such a professional in my area (Buckinghamshire) and, since I lived near London, I was eventually referred to The Brompton for treatment.
However, in the interval between referral and being seen for my first appointment in London, I was desperate for help and often felt afraid. A close friend recommended Felicity and gave me her contact details and this is how I found her. I am so glad that I did.
I had a virtual consultation with Felicity because I live so far away, but I always felt as if they were in person; every time Felicity treated me, I felt not only reassured but also optimistic that I would eventually get better. Felicity listened attentively and provided me with incredible professional support and guidance to improve my breathing.
Felicity is an easy person to talk to and incredibly patient and knowledgeable. With diligence and a determination to follow Felicity's advice and the breathing exercises she gave me, I gradually started to see an improvement. By the time I started treatment at The Brompton, I was already making headway.
I honestly believe that without Felicity facilitating the whole process of gradually getting better, my return to work would have been delayed.
